In a rematch of last year’s Section 7A finals, the Esko-Carlton Eskomos faced Chisago Lakes in girls soccer on Saturday. Same road trip, same field, same shut-out victory as the Eskomos once again beat the Wildcats, this time by a 1-0 margin.

Although EC held a 3-1 margin in quality scoring chances in the first half, both teams went into the break scoreless. Marisa Shady broke that scoreless tie in the 42nd minute when she one-timed a shot off Hillary Andersons corner kick into the lower left corner of the net.

Shady’s tally put the Eskomos up 1-0 and gave junior netminder DeAhna Kulas just enough scoring to slam the door allow the Eskomos to leave town with the victory.

Kulas made three saves on the day to pick up the shut-out, her fourth shut-out of the season. Her counterpart Gabrielle Randall made seven saves on eight shots on the afternoon.

Esko-Carlton is now 5-4 on the season and will host Two Harbors on Tuesday.
