Hermantown Girls Get 3-1 Home Victory Over Marshall

A pair of second half goals helped the Hermantown girls soccer team take a 3-1 victory over the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers on Tuesday afternoon.


With the game tied 1-1 entering the second half the Hawks notched goals seven minutes apart in the 45th and 52nd minutes of the game to pull away to the win. Scoring the first goal of the second half for Hermantown was Christina Petsoulis off a pass from Hailey Hoff. The second goal of the half was scored by Celine Francisco on an assist from Kyla Kaspsvak which pushed the lead to 3-1.


The teams split first half goals with the first tally of the game coming from Hermantown’s Lyla Abukhodair with Hoff assisting just four minutes into the game. Marshall bounced back in the 40th minute on a marker by Ellie Peters which was unassisted.


Marshall goaltender Emily Couture finished with 10 saves on 13 shots, while Hawks goalie, Courtney Simmons, made five saves on seven shots.
