Hawks Open Volleyball Season With A Huge 3-0 Victory Over Esko

Perhaps a message was sent early in the volleyball season last night when the Hermantown Hawks served notice that they will be a top contender in Section 7AA after they defeated two time defending section champion Esko 3-0. The Hawks won by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-19 in proving they will be a tough team to play this season.

Emily Neumann ran the offense efficiently for the Hawks by providing 18 set assists and Stephanie Kallberg provided the power at the net with 11-kills.

Esko 16-set assists from Courtney Johnson who also notched three ace serves. Nicole Mitchell had six kills for the Eskomos.

It was the season opener for both teams. Both teams will now be off until after the holiday break with the Hawks traveling to Duluth East and Esko hosting Wrenshall on Sept 4.
