Head St. Scholastica Men’s Basketball Coach David Staniger announced on Wednesday that Forest Lake’s Tyler Rosenberger and St. Cloud Cathedral’s Scottie Rucks will be attending CSS this fall and intend to play for the Saints.

Rosenberger was guard for the Rangers where he averaged 13 points per game and accumulated 51 steals in his senior season. He also recorded 82 rebounds and shot 33 percent from beyond the arc.

“It seemed like the best choice for myself school wise and for basketball,” Rosenberger said. “I’m looking forward to playing with my new team!”

Rosenberger was a two-time honorable mention all-conference selection for Forest Lake. He was a captain for the Rangers last season.

“Tyler is a tough competitor who is always in the right place at the right time,” Staniger said. “He makes big plays at crucial times of the game and is a smart point guard with scoring ability. He comes from a terrific high school program and has won consistently. We are very happy that Tyler will be a Saint.”

Rucks is a 6’6” forward out of St. Cloud Cathedral, who made it to the section final last season. In 27 games during his senior season, Rucks averaged 14.6 points and led the team with 7.9 rebounds per game. He also recorded a team-high 29 blocked shots.

“When I toured St. Scholastica I was really impressed by all the great people around to help you with anything you needed,” Rucks said. “It was like family and I didn’t even know anyone. I felt immediately comfortable, like a second home. I feel I can be a great asset to the basketball team and Coach Staniger is an excellent coach. I’m anxious to start my new adventure this fall at CSS.”

Rucks was an all-conference selection for the Crusaders this past season and received numerous conference player of the week accolades throughout his career.

“Scottie is a physical player and a very good athlete,” said Staniger. “He rebounds well and can score in different ways. Scottie was a member of the MN Comets AAU team and has won at the AAU and high school level. He was very well coached and has a good understanding of the game. We are thrilled to have Scottie join our basketball family.”

Rosenberger and Rucks join Duluth Denfeld’s Andrew Laughlin and Grand Rapids’ Mike Spoden in the 2012-13 recruiting class that has been announced thus far.

The Saints will open their 2012-13 season at the Bethel Tournament in St. Paul when they face the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Friday, November 16th.
