Tondryk Named 7AA Coach Of The Year

Cloquet girls softball coach Ron Tondryk was named the section 7AA coach of the year by the Minnesota Girls Softball Coaches Association for the year 2012. Tondryk, the Cloquet Lumberjacks head coach helped guide the Lumberjacks to their second state softball appearance.


Tondryk, who was an assistant with the program for over ten years, now, has his team at the state tournament in his third year at the helm. Tondryk helped the Lumberjacks to a quarterfinal upset over the defending section champion Hermantown Hawks and Cloquet went 3-0 in the section 7AA double elimination including a section victory over the Hibbing Bluejackets to earn the 7AA crown.


Tondryk was an assistant when Cloquet last made an appearance at the state softball tournament back in 2002 now leads the Lumberjacks into the state tournament as they open with a quarterfinal match up against Mound-Westonka.


Tondryk follows Hermantown Head Coach Tom Bang, who had been named as section coach of the year for the previous two seasons. Also named as section 7 coaches of the year in Class A was Darrell Bjerklie from Cherry for the second consecutive season and it was Angie Ryan winning the section award in section 7AAA. Ryan is the head coach at Forrest Lake.
