Duluth Padres Outlast Cuyuna Range By 11-10 Margin

DULUTH — Mike Lewis hit a two-run walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Duluth Padres defeated the Cuyuna Range Miners 11-10 in a non-league amateur baseball game at Bulldog Park on Saturday. Duluth, down 10-6, rallied for five runs in the ninth inning.


Lewis was 3-for-6 with three RBIs. Corey Pavlich, Kevin Hendrickx, and Nick Moran had two hits apiece for Duluth. Moran had two RBIs.


Duluth’s Matt Chruscielski set a new club single-game record by scoring five runs, and Pavlich became the first player to play in 100 games in the club’s six-year history. Pavlich (1-0, 0.00 ERA) picked up the win by pitching one inning of relief, a scoreless top of the ninth.


Logan McElfresh picked up the loss. He allowed two earned runs on three hits, two walks, and one intentional walk in two-thirds of an inning.


Jason Hite was 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored, John Hoge was 1-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, and AJ Hartshorn was 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs for Cuyuna Range.


Duluth (1-0 league, 3-3 overall) hosts Port Wing in an Upper 13 League game at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Bulldog Park.
