CEC Boys End Tennis Season With 5-2 Loss To Hibbing

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton bowed out of the Section 7AA boys tennis playoffs on Tuesday afternoon in a 5-2 loss to Hibbing/Chisholm.

The lone wins for the Jacks came at #1 doubles and #2 doubles, but other than that the Blue Jackets proved to have too much fire power against CEC.

Tanner Webster and Christian Pritchett, who normally play singles for the Jacks, teamed up to form a #1 doubles team and that duo notched a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6 and 6-3 win over Aden Casey and Taylor Persson. At #2 doubles the CEC team of Ryan Willgohs and Robbie Sobczak defeated Scotty Perunovich and Jake Bestal 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Those would be the only wins by the Jacks. The other doubles match saw the #3 CEC team of Ben Tomhave and Nick Tomhave fall to Jake Gielen and Jake Jalowsky.

Sean Kedrowski of CEC lost at #1 singles to Mike Fontana 6-1, 6-1 and at #2 singles it was John Scheuer of CEC dropping a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Adam Johnson. At #3 singles it was Cole Schafer of H/C beating Luke Heine 6-2, 6-1 and H/C closed it out with a #4 singles win by Joe Anderson of H/C over Joey Gotchnik.
