Eskomo Boys Win Third Straight

The Esko Eskomos picked up their third straight win Thursday as Max Reinertsen and Austin Pera combined on a three hitter as the Eskomos knock off the Bombers in Barnum by a final score of 12-4 in this Polar League Conference match-up.


The Eskomos pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of seven bases on balls as the Eskomos pick up their seventh win of the season. Esko jumped out quick in the first inning, scoring three runs on an RBI double from Ryan Holte and a two run single from Nate Linder.


Holte scored the Esko’s fourth run in the third inning on a fielders choice off the bat of Andy Hendricks to make it 4-0. Seth Vogt and Sam Kovanen scored for Barnum in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Eskomos lead in half at 4-2.


Esko added four more runs in the fourth inning; a passed ball allowed Austin Cossalter to score, that was followed by a RBI double from Holte, which scored Jarred Mattson, then Holte scored on a two run home run from Reinertsen.


Esko added two more runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth. Nate Linder hit a solo home run in the fifth and Mattson doubled in Cameron Salmi, who was a courtesy runner for Pera, who had singled. Reinertsen scored on a double in the sixth inning by Hendricks and it was Hendricks who scored on an error by Barnum.


Barnum added solo runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one in the bottom of the seventh to make the final margin of eight runs. Nathan Duesler scored in the fourth inning and Kovanen scored the lone run in the seventh inning for Barnum.


The Eskomos improve to 7-5 on the season and they will be in action again on Friday when they will take on the unbeaten Hermantown Hawks in Hermantown. Tuesday they will play at Moose Lake when they face the Rebels.


The Bombers fall to 3-6 on the season and they are in action again Friday, hosting the Hornets of Hill City. Saturday the Bombers have a double header scheduled with Moose lake-Willow River and Cherry beginning at noon in Barnum.
