Jacks Come up Short Against East

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton was unable to match the depth and talent of the Duluth East boys tennis team on Monday afternoon. The Greyhounds split singles play with the Jacks, but dominated by sweeping all the doubles matches to come out with a 5-2 win over CEC.

Tanner Webster took his #3 singles match over Elliot Schneider of the Greyhounds 6-4, 7-5 for CEC. The only other CEC win came at #4 singles where Christian Pritchett defeated Andrew Zimmerman 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. CEC’s Sean Kedrowski lost at #1 singles to Bauer LaSavage 6-3, 6-3 and the Jacks John Scheuer fell at #2 singles to East’s Martin Schneider 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Ryan Willgohs and Rob Sobczak dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at #1 doubles to Peder Norr and Kevin Seiler. At #2 doubles the CEC team of Luke Heine and Joey Gotchnik fell 6-0, 6-1 to Kevin Flaherty and Brenden Berry. The final match of the day saw the CEC duo of Ben Tomhave and Nick Tomhave lose to Alex Anderson Aaron Zabinski 6-1, 6-3.


The Jacks will hit the courts again on Tuesday when they travel to Ashland
