CLOQUET – The South Ridge Panthers looked like they had an upset win a couple of times yesterday afternoon at Braun Park in Cloquet. The Panthers led Cherry in the late going, but eventually the Tigers beat the Panthers 7-3 in nine innings. The Tigers scored five runs on five bunt singles in the last inning to take the win.

The game turned into a pitcher’s duel between South Ridge hurler Kendra Dallmann and Tiger pitcher Shaina Novak, but eventually it was small ball that gave Cherry the win.

Novak finished with a five-hitter and struck out 13 batters while walking just two in her nine innings. Dallmann gave up seven hits, walked four and fanned five in taking the loss.

Alyssa Johnson, the senior catcher for South Ridge, banged out three hits for the Panthers including a double.

South Ridge will be back at it on Friday in the second game of an Esko double header at 5:30pm on Friday. They will also be back home at Braun Park on Saturday for a 1:00 pm game against Ely.
