Ashley Abrahamson Tournament Set For This Weekend

Braun Park in Cloquet will host the 10th annual Ashley Abrahamson Memorial Softball Tournament this weekend. The tournament is held in memory of Ashley Abrahamson, a young student-athlete who played softball, basketball and volleyball in Cloquet.

This year’s tournament will feature 10 teams with play beginning on Saturday morning at 9:30. After the first round of games are played, there will be a parade of teams beginning at 12:30 with a ceremonial first pitch thrown out by members of Ashley’s family.

The tournament has been hosted by Ron Tondryk since it’s inception 10 years ago. Tondryk was Abrahamson’s youth coach and his daughter, Sarah Tondryk, was a teammate of Ashley Abrahamson. Sarah joined her father as co-director of the tournament last season and hopes to carry on the memory of Ashley Abrahamson in the future.

This year there will be two teams from Cloquet, two teams from Carlton and Hermantown, two teams from Duluth, one team from Proctor and a team from Sawyer.
