The Hermantown Hawks swept both the boys and girls quad meets Tuesday afternoon at Hermantown High School as the spring sports season gets underway. The Hermantown boy’s team narrowly defeated Proctor for first while the Lady Hawks won quite convincingly Tuesday afternoon.


The Hermantown boy’s team place first with 88 points, while Proctor finished second with 76, Duluth East was a close third with 72, and Superior finished with nine points. The Lady Hawks finished with 104 total points, while Proctor had 69, East finished with 64 and it was Superior finishing with 6 points.


Winners for Hermantown included Chad Illikainen in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles; Jeremy Peterson won both the Shot Put and Discus, Parker Anderson won the Long Jump and it was Corey Anderson winning both the Triple Jump and the High Jump. Hermantown also took first place in the 4X100 meter relay.


Proctor won the 4X400 meter relay and Matt Welch continued his dominance in the 3200 meter run, taking home first place. Romeo Benish won the 1600 meter run, and also captured first place in the 800 meter run for Proctor, and it was Frank Deluca winning the 200 meter dash for the second place Proctor Rails.


The Hermantown Lady Hawks had first place finishes in the 3200 meter relay along with the 4X200, and the 4X400 meter relay races. Jess Wasbotten won the 100 meter hurdles for Hermantown; Jenna Wassenaar won the 400 meter dash, Anna Jensen took first in the 300 hurdles, and it was Ashley Michaelson won both shot put and discus for the Hawks.


Proctor had first place finishes from Mikalya Westendorf who won both the triple jump and the 1600 meter run. Brook Oraskovich won the 3200 meter run, and it was Bridget Tesser capturing first place for the Rails in the High Jump Tuesday afternoon.
