It took 15 innings and some three hours and 22 minutes, but the University of Minnesota Duluth got the job done, prevailing 4-0 over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. The Bulldogs mustered just four hits through the first 14 innings before putting up four runs on three hits (including a pair of two-run homers by sophomore pitcher Megan Mullen and junior shortstop Kierra Jeffers) in the top of the 15th.

Mullen went the distance and finished with a career-high 18 strikeouts. The Hermantown, Minn., native scattered five hits and allowed just three walks and also helped her cause by going 2-for-7 at the plate.

The Bulldogs (14-11) and Rangers (1-22) made it through six innings in the second end of Tuesday’s doubleheader, but halted play due to darkness with UW-Parkside holding a 3-1 lead. The two teams will pick up in the top of the seventh inning tomorrow at noon before engaging in another non-conference twinbill.
