Last Thursday night at Barnum High School, Bombers senior forward Jacob Naslund entered the Section 5A quarterfinal contest needing only 18 points to reach 1000 for his career, and in the second half Naslund reached that plateau and added two more to the total.

The Bombers, who defeated the Panthers 83-60 in the section contest, saw Naslund hit for 20 points on the night, making his career total of 1002. Naslund added another 21 points to his career total on Saturday when he helped led the Bombers to a win over Hill City.

Naslund has played on the Barnum varsity for three seasons and has scored 561 points through two playoff games during his senior campaign. That works out to a season average of 20.8 points per game, which has him ranked in the top ten in scoring in Northeastern Minnesota.

Naslund shot over 65% from the field in the regular season, which has him ranked third in the Northland. Naslund has connected on 95 of 130 free throws, which again places him among the top free throw shooters in the region.

Naslund, an all around leader for the Bombers was recently chosen to the Polar Leagues first team for 2011-2012 season. He also is among the league leaders in several categories for the Polar League.

On Tuesday night the #1 seeded Bombers will take on #3 seeded Royalton in the Section 5A Semi-Finals at Mora High School with the tip-off scheduled for 8:00pm.
