Bulldogs Move On To Second Round of Section 7A Playoffs

The Carlton Bulldogs open the 2012 sectional playoffs with a victory Tuesday night over the Fond du Lac Ogichida by a score of 73-11 at Carlton High School. The Carlton Bulldogs, who now advance to the second round of the Section 7A playoffs for the first time since 2010.


The Bulldogs jumped out very fast Tuesday night, as they built an insurmountable 54-7 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs, who defeated the Ogichida earlier this season by a score of 73-22, exactly matched the earlier offensive total Tuesday night, but held them to 1 fewer points.


The Bulldogs, who were playing in one of the two Section 7A play in games on Tuesday night advance to the second round of the playoffs as the seventh seed. The Bulldogs had 10 players reaching the scoring column on Tuesday night’s victory.


Carlton was led by Clarissa Nelson who finished with 24 points; Lindsey Dahl-Holm added 13, Amanda Groth 8, Karly Voge 6, Ashley Anderson and Taylor Klassen both had 5, Brooke Camps and Hannah Benson 4 each, Myranda Papesh 3, and Jessica Stanslaski 1.


The Ogichida were led Tuesday night by Francene LaDeaux, who finished with 5 points on the night. Janessa Martineau added 4 points for Fond du Lac and it was Alissa Bosto rounding out the scoring with 2 points on the night.


The Bulldogs improve to 8-14 on the season and they are back in action again on Thursday night in Section 7A playoff action when they will face the second seeded Cook County Vikings in a second round match-up. Fond du Lac will finish the season 4-21 overall.
