Carlton Boys Win Three Straight, Four of Last Five

The Carlton Bulldogs picked up their third straight win on Tuesday night when they defeated the Two Harbors Agates in a Polar League Conference game at home. Carlton winds up their last home game of the season with a 65-40 win.


The Bulldogs, for the second consecutive night saw Lane Empson light it up from long range as he connected on four 3-pointers against the Agates. Carlton and Two Harbors battled in the first half, with the Bulldogs maintaining a seven point 28-21 lead at halftime.


The Bulldogs pulled away in the second half, just as they did last night against East Central. Carlton outscored the Agates 37-19 in the second half to come away with the 25 point victory at home. Carlton also connected on 12-15 free throws on the night and hit seven 3 pointers in the winning effort.


Erik Adams led the Bulldogs with 19 points, Lane Empson finished with 17, Kyle Gunderson chipped in with 10, Zach Veno added 8, Dominic Bennett scored 4, Mark Lehet scored 3, and it was Spencer Walton and Dekota Frear both finishing with 2 points.


The Agates were led by Kyle Omtvedt who scored 18 points. Charlie Paulisich added 12, while John Horoshak, Cole Myrdal, Jesse Omtvedt, Kelvin Luhrson, and Tim Bott all finished with 2 points in the Two Harbors loss.


The Bulldogs, with the win have won three straight games and four of the last five, they improve to 7-14 on the season and they will finish up their regular season on Friday night in Wrenshall in a Polar League Conference game.


Two Harbors falls to 3-19 on the season and they will face the Lumberjacks next Monday night in Cloquet. The Agates will close their regular season next Tuesday and next Friday as they will face Cook County and Mesabi East at home.
