South Ridge Girls Fall To Ely

The Ely Timberwolves jumped out to an early lead Saturday and then proceeded to the huge win over the South Ridge Panthers 63-39 in this sectional match up at South Ridge High School Saturday night.


The Timberwolves, who finished with four players in double figures jumped out to a 32-16 lead at halftime and went on to roll to the 24 point road win. The Timberwolves picked up their 10th section win on the season with the victory on Saturday.


The Panthers Kourtney Karppinen nailed four long range bombs for the Panthers, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Panthers now fall to 6-9 in sectional play with the regular season winding down into its last week of play.


The Panthers were led by Karppinen, who finished with 12 points in the loss for South Ridge. Alyssa Johnson added 8, it was Kendra Dallmann and Mikalya Olesiak both chipping in with 6, Kaylee Hage scored 3, and Justice Janke and Laurel Morris adding 2 each.


The Timberwolves were led by Mariah McDonald, who scored 17 points. Erin Muhvich added 14, Marlee Muhvich scored 12, Megan McDonald pitched in with 11, Jaiden Cofield added 7, and it was Natalie McDonald scoring 2 points for Ely.


The Panthers fall to 10-11 over all on the season and they will wrap up their regular season this week with a game at home on Tuesday versus Northeast Range and then Friday night they will close with a road game at Floodwood.
