Avery Seed of Maple Grove received the Empower Rising Star Award from TeamWomen. TeamWomen is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting leadership for women and girls. Seed, a musician studying at Perpich Arts High School, accepted the award last year. She previously attended Maple Grove Senior High School.

The recipient of the award needed to show at least one of organization’s four “Empower” pillars: Leadership, Confidence, Well-Being, and Resilience, through self-growth and impact on others within their school, academics, team(s), and/or community.

According to TeamWomen, Seed “showcased a remarkable commitment to self-empowerment that inspired everyone around her. She is a determined individual who is not afraid to chase her dreams and make them a reality. From calling recording studios to launch her music career, creating a blog with her best friend during the Covid pandemic, to moving away from home a year early to pursue her musical dreams at Perpich, Avery has actively taken steps to achieve her goals. Moreover, she believes in the importance of showing others, especially girls her age or younger, that anything is possible with hard work and determination. Avery’s journey is a testament to the valuable lessons on confidence, resilience, and leadership development that she gained at the Academy, which will undoubtedly serve her well as she continues on her path of self-empowerment and inspiring others.”

Principal Rebecca Bullen said, “Avery is a powerful young artist who moves the room with her voice, care, and compassion. I often hear her complimenting and caring for peers, providing supportive feedback, and inspiring others as she confidently performs on stage. She is a talented and delightful person, very deserving of such a prestigious award!”

“I am not surprised that Avery is being honored with this award,” Counselor Carol Syvertsen said. “Avery has the ability to easily connect with people upon first meeting and every interaction after! Her smile is infectious! I’ve been very impressed with Avery’s resilience and attitude in the short time that I’ve known her. Congratulations, Avery!”

“It was exhilarating to be in a room full of empowered women and I am so honored to be recognized for following my dreams and going after what I want,” Seed said. “I hope one day to inspire someone as much as those women inspired me. I am excited to see the role Team Women plays in my life going forward and am grateful to have found such a wonderful organization.”
