MADISON, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men’s hockey team saw three of its players slated to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) team, as the conference revealed its postseason awards in an announcement Wednesday.

Senior forward C.J. Walker (Boise, Idaho/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame), along with freshman goaltender Jack Boschert (Florissant, Mo./Duchesne) were named to the All-WIAC squad while sophomore defensemen Dusty Bergstrom (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) was given an honorable mention nod.

Freshman forward Justin Dauphinais (Val Caron, Ontario/École Secondaire Catholique Horizon) was the Yellowjackets’ representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Walker ended his senior season as the team’s leader in scoring. Skating in 27 games, he finished with three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. Walker scored two goals on the power play this season, coming against UW-Stout on Nov. 18 and UW-River Falls on Feb. 16. His goal against the Blue Devils would be the game-winner, as well. Once the season ended, Walker signed a professional contract with the Birmingham Bulls, a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He scored a goal in his professional debut on Feb. 23.

Boschert finished his freshman season starting in 12-of-14 games. He logged 707 minutes in goal for the Yellowjackets, making 316 saves for a .935 save percentage. Boschert held a 1.87 goals-against-average and capped his debut season with a 5-6-1 record. He picked up his first victory in net against Saint Mary’s (Nov. 11), making 28 saves. Boschert made a season-best 38 saves in the final game of the season, facing off against UW-River Falls Feb. 17.

Bergstrom had a strong sophomore season, skating in all 27 games. He finished with four goals and seven assists for 11 points, rifling 59 total shots on the campaign. Bergstrom scored the first goal of his Yellowjacket career against bridge-rival St. Scholastica on Oct. 28, a game-tying goal at 13:32 in the third period. He would also find the back of the net against Northland (Nov. 25), which proved to be the game-winner.

The Yellowjackets ended the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 11-15-1, finishing 6-8-1 in WIAC play.
