Hunter Scott continued his hot streak Sunday night, notching four points including a go ahead goal in the second and the eventual game winner early in the third period to lead Duluth over Sioux Lookout Sunday night at the Heritage Center. It was a night for special teams, as five of the contest’s first six goals were scored on the power play.


The Flyers struck first, with leading scorer Anthony Wolfe getting a man-advantage marker 10 minutes in. While doubling up the visitors on shots 16-8 in that first frame, Cody Stettin finally broke through, slamming home a rebound on a scrum in from of Sioux tender Trevor Zangs to make it 1-1 at 15:44.


After taking the intermission to regroup, the Clydes came out firing in the second, as Scott and Troy Olson both scored power play goals in the first five minutes of the frame. Jacob Nolan pulled the Flyers back within one with a power play goal of his own just a few minutes later at 6:52, but Bryce Gustafson would give Duluth the two goal cushion back, getting his own man-advantage goal with 2:38 left in the second to send his team to the locker up 4-2 with twenty minutes to play.


Scott got his second of the night 2:37 in to push the lead to 5-3,only to have Chris Hoffman answer back at 5:49. Wolfe got his second of the night with just under five minutes to go to pull the visitors within one, but Matt Morsette sealed it with 1:06 left. Zangs took the loss for the Flyers (15-20-1), seeing 46 shots and stopping 40, while Jason Dzurik got the home win for Duluth (13-24-0)kicking out 30 of 34.


The win sent the Flyers to their seventh straight loss as the Clydes remained unbeaten against them on Heritage ice this season. It was also Duluth’s first win this season after giving up the first goal, they had previous been 0-15.


They next visit the North Stars in Thunder Bay Friday before hosting Fort Frances on Sunday at 6pm.
