After losing by just one point in the semi-finals of the Hibbing Holiday Tournament, the Moose Lake-Willow River girls basketball team bounced back to beat Eveleth-Gilbert 67-62 in the third place game.

Olivia Bennett and Sam Johnson combined for 32 points to lead ML-WR. Bennett dumped in 17 and Johnson added 15 points for the Rebels. Taylor Miller finished with 12 points and both Shaelyn Halverson and Adri Jusczak had 10 points. In all, the Rebels had five players in double-digit scoring. Kayla Radel added a pair of points and Hayley Johnson finished with a point for the Rebels.

The Rebels powered their way to a 10-point halftime lead, but were outscored by five in the second half as the Golden Bears tried to rally for the win. However, the Rebels found a way to stay strong in the second half and pull out the win.

Leading the Golden Bears was Megan Vidas who had a game-high 30 points and Katelyn rice finished with 13 points for E-G.

A big key to the win was the seven 3-pointers that the Rebels hit for the game compared to five for the Golden Bears.
