A year ago Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjack boys hockey fans got a taste of just how good freshman sensation Karson Kuhlman was, now it looks like Kuhlman is ready to go up a few more steps after pounding home four goals and adding an assist in the Jacks 9-0 victory over Proctor on Tuesday night.

Kuhlman wasn’t the only powerhouse for the Jacks scoring machine, the other was Beau Michaud who collected a pair of goals and a pair of assists for a four point night.

Beau Michaud opened the scoring at 3:23 of the first period and found the back of the net again just 25 seconds later with his second goal of the night. Michaud’s first goal was assisted by Tanner Robideaux and the second goal was assisted by Kuhlman and Adam Hanson. Not to be out done, Kuhlman rammed home a pair of goals at 9:16 and 14:35 of the first period to give CEC a 4-0 edge. Michaud and Hanson assisted on the first of those two goals and the second was assisted by Sean Kedrowski.

The second period saw James Newgren sliding home a tally at 1:22 with the assist going to Drew Dincau to make it 5-0. The Jacks went up 6-0 at 10:53 on a Westin Michaud unassisted goal as the second period ended.

Just 30-seconds into the third period the Jacks went ahead 7-0 on Kuhlman’s third goal with Hanson and Justin Hammann adding assists and barely a minute later the scores went to 8-0 on a goal by Ryan Holte, with Newgren and Westin Michaud adding the assists. CEC’s final goal came at 9:17 of the final period when Kuhlman chucked home his fourth goal of the game on the power play with Beau Michaud adding the assist.

For the game the Jacks tossed 40-shots on the Proctor net, while CEC goalie John Scheuer finished with 13 saves to preserve the shut out.

The win evens Jacks record at 2-2 on the season; they will hit the ice again on Thursday when they travel to Princeton for a 7:15pm game.

The loss is the first for the Rails, who are off to a fast start this season at 2-1. They will make the long ride to the northern border of the state to take on Lake of the Woods on Friday evening.
