Esko Girls Start The Season With Third Straight Win

The Esko Eskomos improved to 3-0 on the season with a 53-35 over the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks Monday night in Grand Rapids. The Eskomos jumped out to an early 31-13 lead at half time, and cruised to the non conference victory.


The Eskomos jumped out in front, outscoring the Thunderhawks by 18 points in the first half as they led 31-13 at the break. The second half was more balanced as both teams scored 22 points each but it was not enough for the Thunderhawks to overcome a large half time deficit.


Savanna Trapp led the Eskomos with 19 points; she also finished with 8 blocked shots on the night. Marisa Shady added 15 points including three 3 pointers on the night. Kallyn Knutson had 5 points, while Stephanie Bandelin, Megan Reuer, and Brooke Schramm all finished with 4 points each. Bailey Mudek finished with 2 points in the Eskomos win.


The Thunderhawks were led by Kenzie Kane who finished with 10 points for Grand Rapids. Nataya Chandlen knocked in 6 points as did Jordan Olson, and Jess Sondergaard and Brittany Koss both added 4 points in the Thunderhawks loss.


The Eskomos, with the win start 3-0 on the season and after two late night trips in a row to the Iron Range; they have a nice break as they won’t be in action until Thursday December 15th when they face Cook County at home. The defending Section 7AAA champion Thunderhawks fall to 0-2 on the season and will be in action again on Thursday when they will play at Bemidji.
