The Carlton Bulldogs traveled to cross-town rival Wrenshal Friday night, as they took home the hard-fought 62-54 victory.

Wrenshal got off to a hot start, but the Bulldogs would quickly counter, as they took the lead and maintained it all the way until halftime, where they held a 23-17 advantage.

Wrenshall wouldn’t go away quietly however, as the second half of play was chippy, with the Wrens cutting the Bulldog lead to just six late in the game.

A couple Matt Hey free throws would help Carlton build upon their lead, as they eventually walked away victors, 62-54.

Hey ended with a game-high 24 points, while Tyler Ojibway finished with 15, knocking down two three-pointers. Sam Macor followed with 11 points, and Eric Soderstrom finished with 6. Nate Nilsen rounded it out with 6 points of his own.

Tyler Kelley led a resilient Wrenshall team, scoring 21 points. Randy Wimmer added 12, while Nick Mattson chipped in 7. Also scoring for the Wrens was Jared Kelly 6, Eli Krisak 5, Kyle Despot 2, and Phil Vine with 1.

Carlton will host Cromwell next Friday, while Wrenshall will host Duluth Marshall on Thursday.
