Several members of the Moose Lake Willow River baseball team received academic achievement awards on Tuesday from the Minnesota State High School League. The athletes are normally recognized for athletic achievements, but this is solely an academic award.

Seniors Dan Anderson, Nate Zuk, and Joey Bohaty, Juniors Adam Ryan and Michael Unzen and Sophomore Nathan Van Zee were all recognized for this achievement. All players are vital contributors to the Rebel baseball team and the success they have had this season.

“It is great to see the guys get these awards,” Head Coach Lyle Halverson told Northland Sports Online. “They work so hard on the field and now you are can see how hard they work in the classroom as well,” Halverson would add. “The High School League does a good job recognizing those who work hard at their studies in addition to the work needed to do well in sports.”

The “Outstanding Academic Achievement Award” given by the Minnesota State High School League is for student athletes who have a grade point average above 3.5 for the academic school year. Northland Sports Online would like to congratulate the student-athletes on this award!
