A 6-3 win by the Duluth East Greyhounds over Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in boys hockey on Monday night sets up a potential playoff game down the road that could be wild.

Earlier this season the Lumberjacks defeated Duluth East at home, and on Monday night the Jacks and Greyhounds entered the third period tied at 2-2 before the Greyhounds found a way to pull away for the win.

East grabbed a 1-0 lead at 3:58 of the first period on a goal by Ian Mageau, but a little over nine minutes later the Lumberjacks tied things at 1-1 on a goal by Jedd Anich on an assist by Dawsen Cossalter.

Garrett Worth gave East a 2-0 lead at 6:29 of the second period, but Ryan Nelson tied it again for CEC at 12:10 with the assist going to Anich.

The Greyhounds quickly built a 4-2 lead in the third period on goals by Ryan Peterson and Worth, but Ryan Bourgeault cut the gap to 4-3 at 7:30 on a goal that was assisted by Jack Kuhlman, however that was the closest that the Jacks would get as East closed out the scoring with two more goals to make the final 6-3.

The loss drops the Jacks to 10-12 while East improved to 13-7.
