The Duluth Northern Stars opened their 2015-2016 season with a 6-1 win Tuesday night over Cambridge-Isanti at the Heritage Center in West Duluth.

The Northern Stars used 6 different goal scorers on the night as they picked up the win for first year head coach Jamie Kenyon.

Ana Kunst started the scoring Tuesday night with a even strength goal at 7:37 of the first period with assist to Sydney Schuman. The Stars added their second goal when Nikki Fredrickson scored at 9:22 to make it a 2-0 lead in Duluth’s favor. Hannah Cornell assisted on the Fredrickson goal.

The Northern Stars made it 3-0 Mya Kunst scored just 40 seconds into the second period on an assist from Katelyn Orso. Schuman the set up Gretta Johnson late in the second period to make it a 4-0 lead, and the Stars were not done adding another goal just 13 seconds later to make it a 5-0 lead after two periods.

Avery Ziegler made it 6-0 just 35 seconds into the third as the Stars picked up the first win on the year. Kalei Kleive stopped 17 of the 18 shots she faced.
