The Moose Lake Willow River Rebels and the Barnum Bombers met for the second time this season, creating the same outcome. The Rebels ten-runned the Bombers by a score of 11-1. The first time these two teams met it was the Rebels who won by six runs at 12-6.

The Barnum Bombers got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning when, with two outs, Kyle Duesler singled to right center. That was followed by three consecutive walks to Alex Hassett, Cody Hagenbeck, and Josh Hogan that brought in the lone Barnum run. ML-WR would answer right back in the bottom of the first inning as Rajean Carlson singled, Joey Bohaty walked and they both scored on a single by Dan Anderson. The Rebels led 2-1 after one inning.

ML-WR added two more runs in the third inning as Bohaty led off the inning with a single. He stole second and third, and then scored on
a throw to third. Nate Zuk singled and would later score on a RBI single by Hayden Hoffman. The Rebels added two more in the fourth inning. Michael Unzen doubled and scored on a single by Carlson. Carlson scored on an error on a ball hit by Anderson.
At the end of four innings
it was 6-1.

ML-WR would close the door in the bottom of the seventh inning as they scored five runs to ten run the Bombers. Hoffman singled, Trevor Nummela walked, Adam Ryan singled driving in Hoffman, and Michael Unzen would single driving in another run. Carlson singled to drive in Ryan and Unzen. Carlson would score the final run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dan Anderson.

“The story of our season,” head coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “We couldn’t get the big hit when we needed it and we gave away to many runs.” Barnum had seven errors against Moose Lake-Willow River in the loss. “It was a great win” head coach Lyle Halverson told NSO. “We want to peek as the playoffs start.”

ML-WR improves to 12-4 overall on the season and will conclude regular season play Thursday as they play at Pine City. The Bombers wrap up action on Wednesday as they travel to Silver Bay to finish a game in progress with the Mariners.
