The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels went into Mondays game with Hinckley-Finlayson as a must win type of game, a win would all but ensure a better seed as the section playoffs begin a week from Tuesday.

The Rebels jumped on the scoreboard first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding three more in the second inning. In the first inning, it was a two out single which drove in two runs by Christina Peterson, and in the second Emily Wasche doubled in a run and Samantha Johnson singled in two more runs as the Rebels built a five run lead.

The Jaguars added one run in the fifth inning and the Rebels responded as a double deep to right field would score Maddy Adamczak who had singled. The Jaguars scored three more runs in the sixth inning to cut the Rebels lead to 6-4 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

“We needed to answer” said Head Coach Andrew Miller, “they cut the lead to two runs and the girls did just that.” It was a blast over the right field fence from Kaitlyn Greene that gave the Rebels a six run lead at 10-4. Greene’s grand slam scored Olivia Bennett and Emily Wasche who had both walked; and Sam Johnson who scored following her infield single.

The Rebels added one more run in the sixth inning when Maddy Adamczak tripled and scored on a ground ball hit by Peterson , giving them an 11-4 win. The win moves the Rebels to 8-7 overall on the season and they will close out their Regular season on Wednesday against the Carlton Bulldogs. The Jaguars fall to 7-5 on the season.
