Duluth Padres Get 7-6 Road Win

CROSBY, Minn. — Bob Baxton hit a two-run go-ahead double in the seventh inning as the Duluth Padres won a non-league amateur baseball game against the Cuyuna Range Miners at Crosby on Saturday by a score of 7-6.

With Duluth leading 5-2, Cuyuna Range scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on one hit, two walks, two errors, and a hit batsman to take a 6-5 lead. Duluth scored three runs on three hits and a walk in the seventh to go ahead 7-6.

Winning pitcher Keith Gunderson (1-0, 0.00 ERA) allowed one hit and zero earned runs in six innings. Matt Chruscielski pitched three scoreless innings for the save.

Chruscielski and Devin Delich had two hits and Baxton and Bob Eastman had two RBIs for Duluth, 3-0.

The Padres will open the Upper 13 League season by hosting the Ashland Merchants tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at UMD’s Bulldog Park.
