Mustangs shock Rebels

On a picture perfect night for High School Football it was a Mora Mustang football team that can determined and ready to play as the Mustangs handed the Rebels their worst regular season loss in over 10 years.

Senior running back Tyler Tobar rushed for 202 yards and scored two touchdowns as a low scoring first half turned into a run away in the third quarter for Mora.

Mora led 7-6 at halftime, a Luke Anderson 16 yard touchdown pass to Noah Foster gave the Mustangs a 7-0 lead which stood till 7.1 second remaining in the half when Bryceton Butkiewicz scored on a 4 yard touchdown run. This lone score for the Rebels was aided by a 15 yard penalty by Mora with 25 seconds remaining in the half.

The third quarter saw the Mustangs march down the field and scored on the first drive of the half when Jeremiah Mantel made it 14-6 following a 30 yards touchdown run. Mora made it 21-6 when Tobar dashed into the end-zone following a muffed kickoff return by the Rebels where Mora recovered the muffed ball in Rebel territory.

The Rebels then were forced to punt and Tobar scored his second touchdown of the quarter which made it 28-6 after three quarters. Luke Anderson then hit Bryce Norby on a 48 yard touchdown pass with 7:41 remaining in the 4th as the Mustangs ensured themselves with the victory.

Two late touchdowns made the contest closer then it actually was for the Rebels who fall to 3-1 overall and will face Pine City next Friday. Mora moves to 3-1 and will take on Crosby-Ironton next Friday night in Crosby.
