UMD Hires New Women’s Basketball Coach

The University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs have announced their new women’s basketball coach. Mandy Pearson, who coached at St. Mary’s University in Winona for 8 seasons, is now the Bulldogs new head coach.

Prior to coaching at St. Mary’s, she was an assistant coach at Hamline University from 2005-2007. As a coach at St. Mary’s University, Pearson racked up a 102-107 overall record, but was 64-18 in the last three seasons. Pearson led St. Mary’s in the 2011-12 season to their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament since 2005. In the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, Pearson was named the MIAC Coach of the Year. She also led St. Mary’s to the Division III NCAA tournament in 2013-14 after compiling a 24-4 record.

Pearson also played college basketball at Concordia-Moorhead where she was a three time MIAC selection. She is also the first player in Concordia-Moorhead women’s basketball history to tally over 1000 career points and 500 career assists.

Pearson will make her Bulldogs debut on Saturday, October 31st in an exhibition game against Green Bay. She will make her regular season debut on Saturday, November 14th on the road against Michigan Tech and she will make her home debut on Saturday, November 28th against St. Cloud State.
