Calcaterra Continues on his Basketball Quest

Cloquet’s junior basketball sensation, Chad Calcaterra, is continuing his quest of fulfilling his basketball dreams this spring and summer. Calcaterra is playing basketball with Howard Pulley, a nationally recognized AAU basketball team, which
is comprised of
some of the best high school basketball players from the upper Midwest.

Howard Pulley is an association that was established in 1993 with the purpose of developing youth basketball players to their fullest potential through team participation and individual commitment. Howard Pulley has had some of the best high school players this state has ever seen in the past. Numerous players that have participated in Howard Pulley have gone on to excel at the collegiate level and even several have advanced to the NBA. The most famous former Howard Pulley player is Joe Mauer, the catcher for the Minnesota Twins.

Howard Pulley will be playing all over the United States in tournaments that bring together the best of the best young basketball players throughout the country. The season started in April
when Howard Pulley traveled to Hampton Virginia to play in the Nike Invitational Tournament. The program finished in the top eight. The Jayhawk Invitational was next, located
in Kansas, where Howard Pulley would again finish in the top eight. Last weekend the team was home for the Sabes Foundation Tournament, which brought in twenty teams from all over the country. Howard Pulley finished in the top four, losing to St Louis Eagles.

In the Sabes Tournament, Calcaterra scored 40 points in six games. He pulled down 17 rebounds and had 13 blocked shots. Calcaterra was third in scoring for the Panthers, behind Jacob Thomas and Jordan Hughes. Calcaterra has been having a wonderful season so far and has been developing as a player to better himself.

Howard Pulley is back in action this weekend, traveling to St Louis for the Sprite Midwest Tournament. Northland Sports Online will continue to pass on information as it is made available.
