The Braham Bombers boys basketball team followed suit with the Braham Girls on Saturday as the Bombers knocked off the Eskomos, ending their playoff run. The Eskomos battled hard in the first half trailing only by six points at the break, but Tyler Vaughn scored a game high 28 points to lead the Bombers to the 69-57 win at UMD Saturday night.

Junior guard Tyler Vaughn hit 17-18 free throws as he led the Bombers to victory and a semi-final matchup against Virginia, who knocked off Duluth Marshall. Esko shot the ball really well on the night, hitting for over 40% from the field. However, the Bombers did a better job rebounding and outscored Esko 11-1 on points off turnovers, which was the difference in the game.

Jackson Lindquist continued to keep Esko in the contest as he hit six 3-pointers on the night and finished with 20 points to lead the Eskomos in scoring. Marc Peterson tallied two long range bombs in the loss for Esko. Lindquist also added five blocked shots on the night for the Eskomos.

The hot outside shooting for the Eskomos could not contain Vaughn for the Bombers as he finished with 28 points. Vaughn also added nine rebounds in the win and had seven assists for the Bombers. He also finished with four steals in the game, half of the Bombers team total of eight.

Following Lindquist for the Eskomos in scoring was Adam Eskuri with 15 points. Jake Stainbrook added 13, Marc Peterson finished with 6, Andrew Wendland added 2, and Kory Deadrick closed the Eskomos scoring with one point on the night. Cameron Braund finished with 15 points for Braham and Ben Thiry was also in double figures with 12.

The Eskomos season comes to an end with an overall record of 21-7. Esko will lose three seniors to graduation this year, Jake Stainbrook, Adam Eskuri, and Andrew Wendland. Northland Sports Online would like to thank all three for their years of hard work and dedication to the Eskomos basketball program.

The Bombers improve to 25-3 on the season and advance to the Section 7AA semifinals on Thursday night at UMD when they will face the Virginia Bluedevils in the second game of the section semis on Thursday. The Braham and Virginia game is scheduled to begin at 7:45 pm or twenty minutes after the finish of the Moose Lake-Willow River vs. International Falls game.
