It had been a while since McGregor had lost a boys basketball game, nine games ago to be exact when back on January 14th the Mercuries fell to Polar League foe Esko at Esko high School. Since that loss a month ago, McGregor had reeled nine straight wins including a seven point win over Barnum in McGregor three weeks ago. That all changed Monday as Barnum ended the nine game win streak by beating the Mercuries by a score of 60-57.

It was Josh Hogan scoring 30 points Monday night as the Bombers win their fourth straight game. The Bombers jumped out to an 11 point half time lead at 33-22. McGregor however, fought back in the second half and narrowed the margin to one point before Hogan nailed two clutch free throws to seal the victory for the Bombers.

Following Hogan’s 30 points on the night was Andrew Youngren who nailed 9 points, Justin Newman added 7, Bobby Minkkinen added 6, Luke Chalberg finished with 4, Jacob Naslund and Danny Warpula each finished with 2 points in the victory at home.

Preston Huard led the Mercuries in scoring with 13 points on the evening, he was followed by Kendall Miller with 12, Alex Carlstrom also added 12 points, Zerek Marsyla finished with 7, Dan Gelhar and Elliott Haapoja both chipped in with 6 points and Ben Belz closed the scoring out with 1 point on the night.

Barnum improves to 17-5 on the season and they will be in action again on Friday when they will play at Silver Bay in a Polar League conference match-up. The Mercuries fall to 19-3 on the season and they will play at Carlton on Friday night in a Polar League conference match up as well when they look to get back into the win column.
