Cardinals Edge Polar Bears

The Cromwell Cardinals hosted their Polar League rivals on Friday night and would narrowly escape with the 63-60 victory.

The Cardinals held a large lead at halftime, up 39-24 when the buzzer sounded. The Polar Bears would come storming back in the 2nd half, outscoring the Cardinals 36-24 but it wouldn’t be enough as they would come up three points short.

Leading Cromwell to victory was Brandon Fairbanks who tallied a game high 20 points. Tyler Randall and Tyler Hakamaki would follow with 12 each in the win. Also scoring in the game was Austin Pfisthner and Carter Karppinen with 9 each and Zion Smith rounded it out with 1 point.

In the loss for Floodwood, Ryder Lough notched 16 points followed by Noah Thompson with 15. Willow Christensen would pitch in 14 in the loss and Riley Bernsdorf would hit double digits with 10. Kyle Tamminen topped it off with 5 points.

The Cardinals now extend their winning streak to 5 games and move to 12-9 on the season. They will travel to play Cook County on February 16th with a tipoff of 2:45pm. The Polar Bears drop to 20-3 on the season and will look to bounce back against Two Harbors on February 19th.
