Weets Leads Jacks Over Apollo In 2OT

Nate Weets scored 26 points and hit 3 three-pointers as the Lumberjacks knocked of St. Cloud Apollo Friday night in St. Cloud by a score of 77-69 in double overtime.

The Lumberjacks held a narrow 32-31 lead at halftime. The second half would remain a closely contested game, which saw St. Cloud Apollow outscore the Jacks 27-26 to send it into overtime. In the first overtime, the Jacks and Eagles matched each other with 8 points each to send it into a second overtime. In the second overtime, the Jacks would take control and outscore the Eagles 11-3 to secure the victory.

Weets 26 led the Jacks. Following Weets was Mason Brenner who notched 15 and Zach Gerlach who pitched in 14. Also scoring in the win was Brandon Hill with 9, Gavin Takkunen tallying 7, Brady Obeidzinski with 4, and Bronson Wehr topping it off with 2 points.

Ethan Novacinski would notch 22 in the loss for St. Cloud Apollo. Cole Johnson followed with 17 and Jack Atkinson hit double digits with 13 points in the loss. Robson Omar scored 7 for the Eagles, Ben Giese added 4, and Michael Tiede and Logan Louangsyharaj chipped in 3 each to round out the scoring.

The Jacks move to 14-9 on the season and will play Duluth East at home on February 17th. The Eagles from St. Cloud Apollo dropped to 10-13 with the loss.
