Keely Deadrick Commits To UWS Volleyball Program

Keely Deadrick, a senior setter from Esko, has made a verbal commitment to attend the University of Wisconsin-Superior to play volleyball for the Yellowjackets next season.

“Having the opportunity to meet many of the players has helped influence my decision,” I have been on campus multiple times, watching games and events and have really enjoyed it.” said Deadrick. Deadrick, who plans to major in elementary education went on to say, “I am really excited about the opportunity to play college volleyball, and playing for my mom makes it that much more exciting. I have also heard great things about the elementary education program.”

Deadrick will join her mother Lynne, who is the head coach of the Yellowjacket volleyball team. “I am excited to have Keely be a part of Yellowjacket volleyball. She is an extraordinary talent and should help us get to the next level,” Stated Lynne Deadrick.

At 5-10 Deadrick was a four-year starter for Esko. This past fall, the Eskomos won the Section 7AA championship and moved on to the state tournament as well as winning the Polar League Conference championship. Deadrick, was named All-Polar League this year as well as being named by the Duluth News Tribune as their All-Area Player of the Year.

During her career Deadrick has also played club volleyball for various clubs throughout her career, including the Minnesota North 18’s. That team made it to the national tournament in Reno, Nevada where they finished 11th among the junior Olympic clubs in the U.S.


Keely is the daughter of Lynne and Shane Deadrick of Esko. Lynne is in her ninth season as the head coach of the Yellowjacket volleyball team and became the all-time leader in wins among UW-Superior volleyball coaches, passing Marcia Engebretson (104 wins from 1991-96) on September 11, 2010. Shane coached the Vermilion Community College women’s basketball team from 1987-2003, was a UW-Superior Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach in 2004-2005, and is currently an Assistant Coach with the Esko High School boys basketball team.
