Pine City Holds off Rebels

The Moose Lake Area Rebels started fast Tuesday night, and finished strong but not strong enough as the Pine City Dragons held off the late charge by the Rebels as the Dragons beat the rebels 7-6 at Riverside Arena in Moose Lake.

Jesse Granfors started the scoring for the Rebels as he put the Rebels in front 1-0 at 7:18 of the first period. Bryceton Butkiewicz made it 2-0 three minutes later to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead. Pine City cut the Rebels lead to 2-1 before the period ended.

The Dragons then exploded for four second period goals Tuesday as the Dragons took a 5-2 lead after two periods of play. Pine City made it 6-2 in the third period before Granfors scored his second goal of the game to cut it to a 6-3 lead. Pine City responded right back making it 7-3 before the Rebels scored the last three goals of the game including Granfors with the hat trick and Butkiewicz scored again int he three goal stretch and Teddy Ryan added the Rebels fifth goal of the contest.

TJ Gross scored four goals for the Dragons with the victory, Logan McNulty  was the Rebels goaltender and took the loss. McNulty finished with 26 saves in the loss.
