WRENSHALL- Maria Burcar started the Wrenshall Wrens on the right track Monday night as she exploded from the opening tip, scoring 12 of the game’s first 20 points. Her efforts helped put the Wrens in front as they picked up their second win of the season. The Wrens defeated Fond du Lac 58-25 at home on.

Burcar continued to add to her first half point total as the Wrens built a 44-12 lead at halftime. Burcar scored twenty points in the first half to help Wrenshall take the thirty-two point lead. “It was a nice feeling to win and now to win two straight.” Burcar told Northland Sports Online. “It’s nice just to win!” Burcar added.

The second half saw the Wrens work a lot with their younger players allowing them to see a lot more action. The Ogichida and the Wrens played a close second half with Wrenshall adding 14 points to their total from the first half and Fond du Lac scored 13 for a game total of 25.

“It was so exciting to get that first win last week and now two in a row it is even more special” Head Coach Michelle Blanchard told Northland Sports Online. “The girls have worked so hard it’s nice to see them rewarded for sticking with it.” Blanchard added “We struggled with our offense at the start of the year but it’s getting better and better every game.” The Wrens scored a season high 58 points in the win Monday night.

Burcar was the game’s leading scorer Monday, finishing with 30 points in the victory. Natalie Peaney added 12 points including two 3-pointers, Samantha Oland finished with 8, Sydney Ellerbe had 4, Taylor Dagger and Christina Laveau each ended with 2 points on the night. Wrenshall now improves to 2-10 on the season; they have two tough battles this week as they host both the once beaten Cook Little Gophers and then will take on the Cook County Vikings on Friday. Cook County has only lost twice this season.

Fond du Lac falls to 0-11 on the season and they are in action on Saturday when they host the Minnesota Transition Charter at Fond du Lac School at 3 pm
