Carlton Falls In Season Opener

The Carlton girls basketball team opened their season up at home on Thursday night, hosting the Cromwell Cardinals. The Bulldogs fell 76-30.

The Cardinals got out to a commanding lead by halftime, leading 46-16. They would continue to dominate the Bulldogs, outscoring them 30-14 in the second half to secure the victory.

The Cardinals were led by a balanced attack, with Kelly Susa leading with 11 points. Rachel Hutar, Kylea Anderson, Tena Hakamaki, and Chelsea Swack all had 10 points a piece. Also scoring was Andrea Hakamaki with 8 points, Justice Bauer with 5, and Kaylan Risachor and Amber Lehti topped it off with 1 point a piece.

In the loss for Carlton, Nikki Ojibway had a team high 15 points. Amelia Groth and Ashley Anderson each scored 4, Vanessa Davis, Jenna Reed, and Abby Lemke each scored 2, and Hailey Klassen topped it off with 1.

The Cardinals improve to 2-0 on the season and will play the Barnum Bombers on December 8th. The Carlton Bulldogs fall to 0-1 and will play again on December 9th against the Cook County Vikings.
