MLA Boys Hold Off Northern Lakes For 6-4 Win

The Moose Lake Area boys hockey team managed to pull out an impressive win over Northern Lakes on Thursday night. The Rebels took a four goal lead into the third period and held on for a 6-4 victory.

MLA scored three goals in the first period with Zach Cisar scoring at the 2:00 mark in a man-short situation, at 12:16 it was Tyler Cisar and then at 14:11 it was a goal by Josh Cisar. The Rebels led 3-0 after one period of play.

In the second period at 4:32 the Rebels went up 4-0 on a goal by Michael Gassert. Andy Sorben cut the lead for Northern Lakes at 7:45, but a power play goal at 10:45 from Chris Gassert gave the Rebels a 5-1 edge entering the final period.

Northern Lakes scored three goals in the third period to throw a scare into the Rebels. Just 4:00 minutes into the final stanza it was a goal by John Houck, then at 14:49 it was Kegan Couture scoring and final with just 43 seconds left in regulation Northern Lakes converted a power play for a goal to pull to within 5-4. The Rebels ended the threat with an empty net goal with 17 seconds remaining by Tyler Cisar to help secure the win. The goal was Tyler Cisar’s team leading 17th goal on the season.

The Rebels put 37 shots on the Northern Lakes net, while Austin Lanoue made 26 saves on 34 shots for MLA.
