Cromwell Falls at State

The Cromwell Cardinals took on Kittson County Central Friday night at Bemidji State University and on a wet cold windy night if the state 9-man quarterfinals, and it was the Bearcats knocking off the Cardinals by a score of 16-8. The Cardinals who held a halftime lead at 8-0 saw the Bearcats capitalize on five turnovers from Cromwell to come away with the victory.

The Bearcats who came from behind took advantage of two second half interceptions and a safety as the Bearcats advance into the state 9-Man semifinals next Friday night at St. Cloud State University.

The Cardinals scored first on a touchdown pass from Zion Smith to Alex Striowski in the second quarter, which gave the Cardinals a 8-0 lead following the two point conversion by Tyler Hakamaki, as the half ended with a 8-0 lead for Cromwell.

The Bearcats Carson Thronsteinson scored on a 71 yard touchdown run which made it 8-6 in favor of the Cardinals, the Bearcats, Thronsteinson added another touchdown run this time from two yard out and that was it as a safety sealed the win.

Three second half miscues saw the Bearcats capitalize as they went on to the victory. The last interception late in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Bearcats as they ran the clock out and improved to 10-2 on the season. The Cardinals end their season with a record of 10-2.
