Jerry Erickson Makes Trip Back To Barnum

Dec 26

Andrew Chalberg-NSO

Jerry Erickson has had many fond memories being a part of the special run with the Barnum Lady Bombers state basketball teams in recent years as an assistant on Head Coach Randy Myhre’s staff.
Erickson returned to Barnum on Thursday Dec 16, this time however as the Cloquet 7th Grade Girls Head Coach.

Mr. Erickson has been a major part of the Cloquet basketball program as well as assisting at other schools in the area for many years. He returned this summer to provide the Cloquet Girls program with an open gym to work on shooting and other basketball skills.

Erickson took over the 7th grade team this year that includes his granddaughter Hazel. His team is 4-1 with their latest win, a 35-26 victory over Barnum. He is no stranger to the girls on his team, as he has coached most of these girls since they started playing basketball back in Kindergarten. It has also been a family affair with coaching for Erickson with his daughter Sarah, who has either co-coached with her father or has served as a coach for the Cloquet Girls Basketball Association over the last eight years.

In addition to coaching basketball, Erickson has also served as a softball coach at the youth level and took his team to the State Tournament this past summer that was held at Braun Park.

We thank Jerry Erickson for his efforts and commitment to local youth basketball over the years and look forward to see how successful his team will go this year and beyond.
