Going into Friday‘s football game between Cloquet and Hibbing on paper it appeared as if the Lumberjacks would have little trouble with the Blue Jackets.  That theory was based on the Lumberjacks 4-0 record and the Blue Jackets 0-4 record.  The theory proved correct as the Jacks rolled up 412 total yards on their way to a 56-6.
Cloquet struck for four touchdowns in the first quarter in racing out to a 28-0 lead.  By halftime the Jacks had built that lead to 49-0 with 21 more points scored in the second quarter.
Kyle Klatt scored the games first three touchdowns for Cloquet with the first coming on a 49-yard pass from quarterback Nate Weets.  Klatt’s second score was a five-yard touchdown run and the third score was a 23-yard touchdown rumble.  Weets added a 13-yard touchdown scramble to close out the first quarter.  Nick Niemi tacked on the extra point kick on all four scores making it 28-0 after the opening stanza.
It was more of the same in the second quarter as Hunter Roberts crashed in from the six-yard line, Kenny Henagin returned an interception for a touchdown and Wyatt Benson added a 30-yard touchdown run.  Niemi again added all three extra point kicks as Cloquet built the lead to 49-0 at halftime.
The Blue Jackets managed a Trevor Erickson eight-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter, but that was countered by a Dakota Myllymaa five-yard run for a score for the Jacks, and another Niemi boot for an extra point pushed the final to 56-6.
Cloquet outgained the Blue Jackets 412-136.  For the game the Jacks averaged 9.4 yards per offensive play to just 3.2 for Hibbing.
Cloquet improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Sea Range Conference where they lead the standings.  Hibbing dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
