Esko Finishes State Tournament Run

The Esko Eskomos girl’s playoff run at the state volleyball tournament came to an end Friday night in St. Paul as the Eskomos lost to Visitation by a score of 3-1 in the consolation round of the girls Class AA state Volleyball tournament.

The Eskomos, playing in the consolation round after losing to Stewartville on Thursday in the quarterfinals started off well Friday as the Eskomos won the first game of the match by a score of 25-23.

Visitation, who lost to the number one seed Hutchinson on Thursday, came back strong as the Blazers won the next three games and advanced to the consolation championship. The Blazers defeated the Eskomos 25-17, 25-17, and 25-12 to close out the match.

The Blazers fell to Marshall in the state consolation championship 3-1, Wadena-Deer Creek swept Hutchinson for the State Class AA title and Stewartville came back to capture third place overall in the tournament.

The Eskomos finish the season 28-3 overall and made their second appearance ever in the state volleyball tournament. Highlights included the Section 7AA championship win over Hermantown, two first place finishes in the North Branch and the Esko tournaments, as well as a second place finish in the Virginia tournament.

The Eskomos will graduate six senior next spring, and NSO would like to recognize those six seniors for all their hard work and dedication. The six seniors are Keely Deadrick, Lydia Pelletier, Janae Beaudot, Alyson Glumac, Alyssa Bergstedt, and Danielle Salo.
