“We’re very excited to have Morgan join our coaching staff at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He has a tremendous track record and we feel that he is one of the top young, u

p-and-coming coaches in NCAA Division III,” Athletics Director Steve Nelson said. “He is also very connected locally, which will be a great asset for him when it comes to recruiting. Morgan is going to be a great asset to Yellowjacket Athletics.”

MacLean began coaching in 2000 with the East Select Soccer Club, a position he held until 2003. During that time he was also the ninth grade coach at Duluth East High School. In 2003 he joined the coaching staff at the Marshall School in Duluth. From there MacLean moved to the Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club, where he coached both boys and girls in various age groups. MacLean coached Gitchi Gummi from 2004 until 2006, and then rejo

ined the staff in 2008 and still works with them today.

“I’m really excited for this opportunity to take over the women’s soccer program at UW-Superior. Melissa has done a good job of recruiting and bringing in players to build up the roster and I’m looking forward to building on what she has achieved here,” MacLean said. “I can’t wait to get the season going and to start working with the players. I have been an assistant coach for a long time and am excited for the opportunity to carve my own path has a head coach.”

MacLean graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2000 and earned a master’s degree from Argosy University in 2008.
