The local area had several athletes participate in the Minnesota State Track and Field meet, with participants from Hermantown, Proctor, South Ridge, Esko, Wrenshall, Moose Lake-Willow River, and Cromwell, the Northland was well represented.

In Class AA, Kenechukwu Udejiofor from Hermantown placed 6th in the shot put with a 44 feet and 4 1/4 inch distance. Zach Smith from Proctor placed 11th in the 3,200. In Class A, Colton Peterson from South Ridge placed 6th overall in the triple jump by jumping 43 feet and 2 1/2 inches. In shot put, Esko’s Jacob Lindstrom placed 8th overall by throwing 50 feet and 1 inch. Travis Bryce from Wrenshall placed 50th, throwing 45 feet and 3 1/4th inches.

In the girls State Meet, Kennedy Bryant from Moose Lake-Willow River jumped 14 feet and 8 3/4 inches in the long jump. Samantha Suhonen from Cromwell placed 9th in the discus, throwing 104 feet and 5 inches. Lastly, Hannah Bettendorf from Proctor placed 11th in the 3,200 finals.
