In a game that was postponed from Thursday night to Friday morning, the South Ridge Panthers fell in a close battle with the Ely Timberwolves, losing 2-0 in the Section 7A championship game.

Ely’s Will Gustafson threw a gem, allowing only four hits and striking out seven while on his way to the complete game shutout. Louie Gerzin drove in one of the two runs that Ely scored, and that was all Ely would need.

South Ridge lefty, Reid Clark also pitched a beautiful game, going seven innings, allowing four hits and giving up two runs. The South Ridge offense was never able to get going as Gustafson powered through their lineup on his way to his 7th victory of the season.

South Ridges season ends as the Section 7A runners-up and with a 11-9 record. Ely, who is now 21-2, will advance to the Class A state tournament.
