East Advances To Section Finals

The Duluth East Greyhounds toppled the top seeded St. Francis Fighting Saints for the second time in the 7AAA playoffs. The Greyhound beat them 14-3 in their second game of the playoffs and then toppled them 6-1 in the semi-finals.

The Greyhounds had a strong offensive performance with each player in the lineup getting at least one hit in the game. Trevor Laakso got the victory for the Greyhounds, pitching a complete game, allowing seven hits while striking out 4. Nate Schuman had a strong outing, going 3-4 with a double. Nathaniel Benson went 2-4 with a double and Chris Olson recorded two RBI’s while getting two hits. Frankie Hanson drove in two and Willem Aldrich drove in one in the key victory.

The Greyhounds improve to 16-7 and will get to play the Elk River Elks once again after falling to them 8-3 in the semi-final game of the winners bracket. The game will be played in Anoka on June 5th with a 4:00 PM start. The Greyhounds will have to beat the Elks two times tomorrow to advance to the Class AAA state tournament.
